Blessed Are the Peacemakers

For all of you folks who are Three Rivers Members or attenders, watch how you interact in public and on social media. You represent Jesus, his kingdom and your church which is part of the community of Jesus’ kingdom. We want to lift up Jesus, his reign, his gospel and trust he can draw all people to himself. Don’t be a hindrance to that in speaking foolishly through gloating or throwing stones or passive aggression.

We say we believe the bible and are citizens of his kingdom. Let’s make sure we act like it. This nation is not our primary nation. It’s not our identity.

Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” – Matthew 5:9

Be a peacemaker. You can do that in tone, content and truthfulness (not your opinion based on a world system that lines up with your cultural interpretation), truthfulness rooted and grounded in Scripture. That truth will smell like kingdom not America.

I love basketball as much at football. I was watching the Atlanta Hawks take down the champs along with election coverage. I just really enjoy watching basketball. I loved playing and still like a little pick up ball now and again too. Therefore, I’ve loved NBA on TNT for a while. I enjoy EJ Jr. (you know his dad used to call Braves games when I was a kid), Kenny, Charles Barkley (who don’t like Chuck?) and Shaq. Watching this the other night made me happy. Because the tone is right on, and EJ just nails how a Christian should interact. If you can’t figure it out from the bible, just imitate what you see in this video, but by all means represent Jesus, his kingdom and his church well.
